Our history

Liberate Media was founded back in 2006 by Wendy McAuliffe - a former digital media journalist turned PR, and Lloyd Gofton - a seasoned PR professional.

The consultancy was established when social media was still very much at early adopter stage, but Wendy and Lloyd saw how it was revolutionising the way in which people were consuming media, and decided to set-up a PR agency that understood  social media is just as powerful and influential a communications environment as traditional media.

Since 2006 Liberate Media has invested heavily in research and development around social media, and we would like to think that we are a recognised thought leader and influencer within this space.

Liberate Media has worked with world renowned brands such as Napster, Associated Northcliffe Digital (part of DMGT) and iCrossing, through to progressive brands such as New Zealand wine label Little Beauty.

"As a journalist, it's always refreshing to deal with a PR company that is both friendly and professional without being overbearing. Liberate's unique understanding of the digital media industry means that they know exactly what kind of stories I’m looking for and what the readers of Revolution magazine are interested in."
