Five on Friday - five fabulous Web 2.0 tools and sites of the week (05-12-08)
December 5th, 2008
December is here already, and here is my usual web 2.0 tool and site weekly round-up.
1. As always the obligatory Twitter tool: this week it’s called twitbacks . “Brand yourself on Twitter by creating your very own Twitter background. Simply add your photo, logo and contact information. Then choose a theme and TwitBacks will automatically create a Twitter profile background” - pretty easy to do this yourself if you know your way around Photoshop!
2. This next Web 2.0 tool is a neat SEO tool. It is called SEO Extractor. You add your keywords to the site, and it generates a report telling you where you are positioned on Google Yahoo and MSN. You will also receive an email when your ranking goes up or down.
3. Zing Sale is up next. Zing Sale lets you know when products you want go on sale, alerting you via email.
This is what LifeHacker had to say about it:
ZingSale Notifies You When Products Go on Sale
“You don’t have to run a manual search every day from now until December 23rd to find the best price on an item you’re hot to purchase but only for so much - ZingSale will monitor item prices for you over time, and email you when they go on sale.”
4. A little bit of nostalgia now. My Tweet 16 gives you your first ever 16 Tweets - my first was on December the 16th.
5. We finish off today’s little jaunt with a nice clean PDF search engine called PDFse. Just enter a keyword and it will find the related keyword ebook.
See ya next week!
Five on Friday - five fabulous web 2.0 tools and sites of the week (17-10-08)
October 17th, 2008

My top Five web 2.0 tools, sites and applications of the week:
1, First off is Do You Feed which turns your own rss feeds into a iPhone friendly site. - Neat!
2, Like Umm is a ratings directory. So for example if your looking for top rated technology sites, click on the technology tab and you will be given a list of rated technology sites.
3, Here is this weeks Twitter offering: Friend or Follow. Submit your Twitter screen name to find out who you’re following that’s not following you back, and who’s following you that you’re not following back. - Watch out for the rabbit being stroked!
4, Top of the Blogs is the next up, does what it says on the tin, rates your blog! - Blogs are ranked on various criteria allowing visitors to search the best blogs by category, tag, country, or language.
5, Bandcamp is the final web 2.0 application for this week.
Bandcamp isn’t Yet Another Place to Put Your Music. We power a site that’s yours. So instead of our logo plastered between banner ads for Sexy Singles Chat, your fans see your design, your music, your name, your URL. You retain all ownership rights, and we just hang out in the background handling the tech stuff.
One great feature of Bandcamp is the analytics’s which show you where your fans are coming from, what they’re listening to and when, even which tracks they’re obsessed with versus which ones they’re skipping over.

October 10th, 2008
Back again with this week’s round-up of my top weekly web 2.0 tools and applications.
1, First off is shrink to one. The purpose of this is to convert multiple links into one small link, which can then be shared across several Instant Messengers applications such as Yahoo Messenger, gTalk, jabber, AIM etc, email or even via mobile phone SMS.
2, Nice little Twitter directory in the same vein as Twellow - Just Tweet it offers the same directory approach but has an added bonus section on Twitter tools.
3, Last week we had Flickr battles, this week we have Yahoo battle. See which which word is the strongest, simple as that!
4, The name of this next web 2.0 tool caught my eye -it’s called Chipwrapper - a collection of resources for searching UK newspapers on the Internet.
5, Finely after a hard week here is a bit of fun for you - it’s a car racing game based on Google maps and it’s called Real word racer! - Love the idea!
More of the same next week!
