Hi Roger

I know what you're getting at, online PR and social media is a fast moving and exciting area that we are passionate about. In comparison, the image of traditional PR has suffered, but as someone who has been in the industry for a while, I still find the area of brand communications to be the most fascinating, whether that's online or offline.

Hi David

Good to hear from you.

I hope that the distinction between online and offline will fade in a shorter time frame than five years, but worry that those who still refuse to consider online strategies will extend the period of evolution.

Hi Timothy

Thanks for joining in. I agree that this situation will complicate matters further down the line. I fear that by the time understanding has caught up, we may be stuck in two separate camps (online and offline) and find it difficult to converge.

Completely agree. Was explaining to a client just this week that "online PR" shouldn't really exist as a service - "PR" should simply be understood to involve whatever mixture of online and offline practices are deemed most appropriate for a particular job. I can't believe that such a distinction will exist in five years' time.

I agree, open communication is the best type of communication. We don't need to draw a line where it doesn't need to be. This only complicates an un-complicated situation.

When it comes to PR it shouldn't be offline vs. online, because the strategies are essentially the same.
