SUMMARY

Liberate Media was asked to develop and manage a social media clinic at ESOMAR Congress in Nice during September 2014.

ESOMAR is the essential organisation for encouraging, advancing and elevating market research worldwide.

Since 1948 ESOMAR’s aim has been to promote the value of market and opinion research in effective decision-making.

ESOMAR facilitates an on-going dialogue with its 4,900 members, in over 130 countries, through the promotion of a comprehensive programme of industry specific and thematic conferences, publications and best practice guidelines. ESOMAR also provides ethical guidance and actively promotes self-regulation in partnership with a number of associations across the globe.

EXPERIENCE

Liberate Media has experience of running social media training for organisations such as Virgin Atlantic, Institute of Education, The Guernsey Government, Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Council and a range of marketing organisations and agencies.

The team can accommodate any requests for precise queries in niche social networks or tools, and relate advice to audience communities.

Our team consists of social media consultants who plan, develop and deliver social media campaigns for a range of clients on a daily basis. As a result, we have real and up to the minute knowledge and experience of the sector.

DELIVERABLES

  • Two members of the Liberate Media team attended ESOMAR Congress in Nice and manned the clinic between 9am – 6.30pm on Monday, September 8th and Tuesday September 9th.
  • A social media toolkit was prepared for ESOMAR members, which was both made available to the ESOMAR team and sent directly by Liberate Media to those that attended clinic sessions.
  • Email follow ups were sent to all clinic attendees with further information where requested, along with the pdf version of the social media toolkit.
  • A ‘guide to Social media’ hand-out was prepared and given to clinic attendees and any other interested parties at the event.

SOCIAL MEDIA CLINIC

The social media clinic at ESOMAR Congress was focused on offering personal and specific advice, rather than a general presentation.

To enable this approach, drop-in sessions were made available to ESOMAR Congress delegates, combined with longer half hour appointment-based consultancy sessions, which were arranged in advance where possible.

A full social media toolkit was also developed for the event by Liberate Media and made available to ESOMAR members.

After each session, the team emailed additional information to the delegate to support the consultancy session along with the purpose-built toolkit.

RESULTS

Following the completion of the social media clinic a report was provided to ESOMAR summarising the event and outcomes. All attendee feedback given directly to the team was very positive, and a number of delegates returned with additional queries and highlighted the relevant advice and useful social media toolkit.

The queries received by the team ranged from general queries to more specific tool-based and strategic questions. For example, questions included; ‘how do I set up my Twitter feed?’ ‘How do I engage with prospective clients via social media?’ ‘Which tools should I use for social research?’ ‘How can I take advantage of my existing social community to drive research-based insight?’
